Illustrated below are nine parking choices that may earn you a citation:

 

Blocking the sidewalk: the sidewalk is not part of your driveway.
Blocking a driveway: it doesn’t matter if it’s your own driveway.
Less than 15 feet from the hydrant: even if there is no red curb.
Not parallel to curb: unless the zone is marked with lines
On the front lawn: Sure, it’s private property, but it’s still illegal.
Wrong side of the street: unless it’s a one-way street.
Street cleaning restriction: even after the sweeper has passed.
Handicap space: if you are not handicapped…shame on you!
Standing in a red zone: it doesn’t matter if you are inside your vehicle with the engine running—a red zone prohibits stopping, standing, or parking.
